“One of the most compelling, relentlessly riveting series TV has ever provided”
New York Post
When British backpacker Clare Matthews runs out of money in Goa, she’s tempted into smuggling hash. It all seemed so straightforward – travel to Delhi to meet the dealer, stuff the hash into a 2ft high hollow iron Indian God statue, seal the bottom and mail it to the UK. On arrival, she’d get half the £7000 profit and her party lifestyle could continue. The first two runs go seamlessly and she extends her stay in India, but her druggy lifestyle catches up with her and on the third run, she gets careless. When the parcel doesn’t arrive she chases it up with the courier company and gets arrested by the police. Five years in Tihar prison in Delhi follow, including a spell in a mental asylum in an attempt to get bail.
Filmed on location in Goa and Mumbai.
Clare Matthews was played by Kierston Wareing
